Happy New Year!

2019 is here! I hope you all had a great rest of your 2018 but now it is 2019 and I’m hoping great things will come to Haley Marie Fine Art Portraits.

Currently the studio has moved to my basement instead of the small space I had found. That space unfortunately wasn’t right for the space I needed for my equipment. I’m hoping to get things up and going well enough to get another space this year. Here are to 2019 goals!

I have been working my two retail jobs still as well as trying to find time for my photography. Photography has kind of gotten away from me but I’m hoping to photograph more in 2019 also.
One of my retail jobs is sadly coming to an end, our Lane Bryant store is closing here in CR. I’m trying to find a new place for me in the career world.

Leave a comment and tell me what your plans and goals are for 2019!?

Clothing, what is popular in contemporary portraiture!

Some of you are probably wondering what you are supposed to wear/bring/rent to a contemporary portrait session. Well I'm here to tell you!

My contemporary portraiture is all about elegance and beauty. For your session, you will want to bring with you a gorgeous gown, make a nice top and skirt with some statement jewelry, or a sleek cocktail dress. We want you to feel your most beautiful, get all dolled up like you are going to a big event for the evening!

I am currently beginning my in studio wardrobe so it is best to maybe rent a piece you love or if you find something you can't live without, purchase it.
Your images capture all the beauty of you and your new outfit.

My favorite dresses to style women in are currently dressing with flare, tulle, sparkles, and anything shiny! Think the roaring 20s and the glamour of their fancy wardrobe.
Below are a couple amazon links I've found for some of my favorite contemporary looks.
Comment and tell me what your favorite styles are, or maybe find a photo of a dress you love!

What is a Folio Box?

I'm going to start writing more about the photo shoot experience you'll receive by booking a shoot at my studio!

To start, we are going to talk a little bit about one of the products I carry. It's my main product and is available in 3 different collections. The collections have different amount of matted prints included.

Welcome, the Folio Box!
The folio box is made of an eco leather, meaning it looks and feels like leather, but is not leather. So no animals were harmed in the making of your folio box! The folio boxes are all made and shipped from Italy, along with the mats and prints included in your folio collection! How awesome is that? To be able to tell someone you got professional portraits and your products are from Italy. They are made to be loved and cherished for years to come. Your ancestors deserve to have printed photos of you and you deserve to be pampered during your session.

Other products available are reveal albums, nine framed images in one single mat, and wall products! All Folio collections also include a small book with your photos from your session.

Remember, your photo session is all about YOU and what YOU want to showcase about yourself.
It's about being pampered, being a star, and being YOURSELF so I can capture it on film for you and your family.

ALL WOMEN DESERVE TO BE LOVE AND PAMPERED, so why not do it with a professional photoshoot!?

Strawberry Fields

This shoot happened all because of a video of a baby in a sink with strawberries. When you see that, what would you think? "oh, what a cute baby!" Not us, we think, "let's recreate that in an adult version!"
For this shoot I recruited a friend, Megan Hawk.

The original idea was to use a bathtub as a milk bath, then we thought, hmm maybe we can do this outside. In comes the pool idea, after Megan's idea of using a wheel borrow since that didn't work out, turns out small child inflatable pools are hard to find. We ended up just using the small pool I have for my dogs.

After we had the location figured out, we took some outfit ideas, props, and of course our strawberries outside to brain storm ideas.

Here is what we came up with:

Model: Megan Hawk
Photographer: Haley Marie Fine Art Portraits
Including a macro strawberry photo

"Once A Queen" Publication

A few weeks ago I teamed up with another photographer, a new hair and makeup artist, a new wardrobe stylist, another fellow photographer that made a beautiful tulle skirt, and a model I'd previously worked with before. Together, we came up with an idea to create a look that resembled Marie Antoinette and the time period.

Rebekah fluffed up Sydney's hair, powdered her face and we were ready for the wardrobe. Our first look was a gown with floral design (brought to the shoot by Rebekah), our second look was a corset and a more straight styled skirt with some fluff in the back. Our third look, we took away the skirt and added a more full tulle look to go with the corset.

We all had so much fun shooting, eating pizza, and just hanging out with one another gossiping. This is one of the best teams I've worked with so far in my editorial journey. Sydney makes photographing so simple, Rebekah had fabulous idea that went with the time period, Preston brought two beautiful backdrops that he let me photograph on as well, and Angie, Sydney's mother, she is the heart and soul of the shoot. She plans, finds wardrobe, and contributes ideas. We deemed her mother to us all during the shoot!
Thank you all for a fantastic day.

We also were published in a small independent magazine, Gilded Magazine, in their June issue. The theme they had for the month was 'Pink'.

Here are the finished images and our magazine tear sheets!

Sugar Rush

The first time I met Eva Von Rose, she had been looking for a photographer to shoot an idea she had, which was sprinkles. Sprinkles in a bath tub. I had done one milk bath shoot before so I was up for trying another shoot in the bath tub.
During planning, we also gained ourselves a creative director, Nicholas Stark. We planned the look we wanted and how many sprinkles we might need. She purchased the sprinkles and a few days later, I met them both for the first time at my house. That's a great way to meet people right, in your bathroom with a huge soft box? Turned out, we all got along great! Eva and Nick had previously met before. To this day we are all great friends and have done a couple other shoots together, we definitely need to plan another one soon.

Here are some photos from the day, behind the scenes, the final shots, and our tear sheets from both magazines.
